What is Providence?
The Good News is the truth that starts with what God has already provided through the glories of His person and work a long time ago.
The greatest act of providence is that, knowing that sinful man would need a Rescuer, God put into motion the powers of His grace and mercy to redeem man from his broken condition. As a display of all of His perfect character, God entered into this world as a man and lived out the righteous requirements of His own holy demands. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, lived out this perfect righteousness in the midst of the world of sinful man and delivered Himself to be crucified to become the perfect sacrifice to appease the holy justice of God. God’s wrath toward sinful man was satisfied, and on the third day He raised His Son from the dead in triumphant power and proclamation that sin’s curse and consequences would no longer reign in the lives of those who would believe upon Him. The Spirit of God testifies this to the unbelieving heart, awakening the sinner to behold the merciful truth that if they would turn away from their self-righteousness and sin and turn toward our merciful God they would be forever pardoned, reconciled and adopted into an everlasting relationship with God. This new relationship provided by the Gospel opens into limitless blessings to be lived out both now and forever through the Spirit of God. While those who have entrusted themselves unto Jesus Christ await His return in this fallen world they are not without hope or comfort. God has provided for the encouragement and advancement of the good news both deeply into the hearts of believers and broadly into the waiting world by the gracious gift of a community of the faithful called the Church.
God’s providence is known and experienced most fully in knowing, believing and living out the gospel of Jesus Christ! We are thankful for the opportunity to look to Him together with you. And we pray that we can play a larger role in your life as you discover more of God’s providence in your life!
Who is Providence?
Providence Baptist Church started in 2001 as a small group of people committed to growing together in their walk of faith. As they worshiped together it became evident that a church family had developed, and the biblical purposes of a church became clear.
In 2002 this growing church family purchased a private estate known by the Westerville community as the McVay horse ranch. The classic looking horse stable was soon transformed into a beautiful modern sanctuary. in 2016 we strategically launched out from the 7-acre property which is now known as the Johnston-McVay City Park.
Providence hasn’t stopped growing and seeks to serve the Westerville area with the distinctiveness of an independent Baptist church that is firmly rooted in the authority of the Scriptures. We emphasize expositional teaching, humble worship, and authentic relationships. We strive to be Word-centered, Christ-exalting and grace driven in all that we do.
